Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was a speaker, investor, and businesswoman from the United America. She founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. By February 2020, she had closed 53 deals. One of them was a $350,000 investment in Coverplay at 40 percent. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence Corcoran's mom, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. The family relied sometimes on the free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran claims that her father was drunk who did her mother a disservice and sarcastic remarks. Corcoran struggled through her schooling and later discovered that she had dyslexia. Corcoran was educated at a Catholic elementary school, and later began high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran completed her studies at Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her first year.
